After working as a reference librarian at the East Los Angeles Public Library, I worked at the Berkeley Public Library as a teen services librarian.  I just moved back to Chiapas to continue working with libraries and archives here.

2003 - Jennifer Prindiville (was Baumgartner)

Just before graduating in 2003 with my MLIS (Archival Studies emphasis), I started a year-long stint as Curator of the USC-Warner Bros. Archives (a paper and photographic repository).  After leaving USC, I movied into the special libraries /private sector and was employed as a reference librarian in the downtown Los Angeles office of Deloitte and Touche.

After almost two years at Deloitte, I followed my heart back to the arts and humanities realm and have now been working in the research library at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art for close to two years.  In my position as the Serials and Exchange Program Librarian, I handle approximately 400 print and online database subscriptions, and also oversee our exhibition catalogues/museum publications exchange for the museum.  I am lucky enough to communicate with museums and cultural institutions around the world, see beautiful works of art everyday, and work with a great group of people.

Feel free to contact me or stop by the library the next time you’re at the museum!

2003 - Anna-Marie O’Brien

After graduating from UCLA in 2003, I spent three years working as an Adult Services Librarian for the city of Tempe, Arizona. In November of 2006, I accepted a promotion to Adult Services Supervisor for the library. I now manage a staff of 7 FTE and 3PT. Our library is located in a diverse community of 160,000, is a suburb of Phoenix, and is the home of Arizona State University, with a student population topping 55,000. Our collection is close to 500,000 circulating items, and we have over a million visitors to our building every year. In March of 2006, our community overwhelmingly approved (79%) a bond issue that will allow us to completely remodel our facility.
Just wanted to pass on the good news and keep in touch with my fellow IS alums!

October 20, 2006

Sarah Mae Harper grew up in the Washington, D.C. area. She received a BA in Spanish from McDaniel (formerly Western Maryland) College where she also completed a self-designed minor in Library Science. In 2001 she moved out to California to attend UCLA. She completed her MLIS in 2003 with a concentration in Youth Services and Public Libraries. She was hired by the County of Los Angeles in August 2003 as a Reference Librarian at the South Whittier Community Library. She now works as a YA/Children’s Librarian at the AC Bilbrew Community Library.

I spent two years as a reference/audiovisual librarian in Culver City, at the third-busiest library in the County of Los Angeles system. This was a great place for a new librarian and I got a lot of wonderful training and experience.  Since March 2006 I’ve been director of the California Center for the Book, a reading promotion agency housed at UCLA and affiliated with the California State Library.  Our mission is to help librarians and teachers get Californians reading — a big task, but we have a lot of fun.
